Individual Health Insurance Rates (Federal & Private)

8/14/2013

The rates for OHIO Federal Exchange individual health insurance plans effective on January 1 will be the SAME as the individual health insurance rates in the private market or on private exchanges.

The ONLY difference is that if you qualify for a subsidy for your individual health insurance plan, you will purchase through the Federal Exchange.

There will be more individual plan options available in the private market...as some carriers have only submitted a small subset of their plans for sale on the Federal Exchange.

You will have online quoting and purchasing access to private, as well as public plans (and the ability to purchase either) directly through our portal, which will be available in a week.

**** Note: The plans quoted online in a week will be for medically underwritten individual plans through December. The new community-rated plans and the exchanges will open on October 1 for purchase/enrollment for January 1 effective dates.
